DESCRIPTION

The CiELO project intended to transfer knowledge and competencies on sustainable development particularly on circular economy, water and soil remediation and recovery, to European students and teachers. On one hand, the project provided students and teachers with the scientific knowledge and skills to understand circular economy practices in Europe and the most important issues related to sustainable development. On the other hand, it stimulated students to learn, develop and share conscious behaviours, as well as to acquire transversal skills that can create virtuous circles of development in the future.

The project involved more than 170 students and their teachers from 4 institutes in Italy, Croatia, Romania and Lithuania, three scientific partners working on issues related to the circular economy (including an associate partner), and a technical partner specialised in developing innovative digital teaching materials.

To achieve its objectives, the project supported students – guided by adequately trained teachers and tutors and using a Cloud Platform – developing several activities based on innovative digital technologies designed to stimulate the inclusion of participants and to facilitate their learning process.

The CiELO project had a positive impact on the participants, and in particular on the students who improved their scientific knowledge on circular economy and their transversal skills (linguistic, technological, communicative, etc.), and on teachers who acquired innovative teaching methods, as well as scientific skills on the topics covered by the project.

RESULTS

The project outputs include:

  • A Cloud Platform as a virtual and innovative learning environment, interactive training platform for teachers and students, and internal communication and dissemination channel for the community
  • Teacher training materials, with study materials, masterclasses, operational and video guidelines
  • Flipped Classroom guidelines and report activities with 25 videos and 186 images
  • 175 video pitches produced by the students and edited into 12 videos in total
  • 48 Digital dossiers (e-books) produced by students in national groups
  • 12 Micro-sites produced by students in transnational groups (including creating digital content such as 48 podcasts, 11 videos and 200 images)
