Within the Special Project activities, the Sustainable Business Area monitors the evolution of the sustainable development paradigm in a business oriented perspective, focusing on the integration of sustainability policies, practices and measures within business organisations.

Sustainable Business research activity aims at gaining awareness of the complexity of sustainable development in a fast moving global scenario and it studies the role of corporate citizenship in driving a positive change for individuals, communities and society.
Main activities and services:
- Fostering Eni on the most relevant sustainability issues within the energy sector, through the transfer of theoretical knowledge and the implementation of feasible and innovative tools;
- Benchmarking on sustainability communication trends, sustainability models and key impact indicators;
- State-of-the-art analysis and future directions of sustainability topics (e.g. human rights, diversity management, consumers behaviors);
- Advice and support in the sustainability communication mix, including Integrated Reporting, web tools & multimedia;
- Organisation of workshops and seminars on emerging issues, using facilitation techniques to explore emerging/controversial issues and design sustainable solutions;
- Participation in institutional initiatives and networks on sustainable development (e.g. UN Global Compact).
