The project aims at supporting the EU’s efforts on climate change and related broader issues of global sustainability. The focus is on climate change in the context of the developing United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change regime.

The focus is on climate change in the context of the developing United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change regime.

The project reviews the essential economic, institutional and political factors involved in potential international regimes of greenhouse gases emissions at three levels, namely:

  • the analysis of cross-country relationships within Europe, including the relationships between EU and border countries;
  • the analysis of determinants of global coalitions and;
  • the development of scenarios for the role of the EU in creating a global regime. FEEM has contributed to the analysis of the determinants of possible global coalitions.
