FEEM Executive Director Alessandro Lanza awarded the title of Honorary Professor by Eurasian National University of Kazakhstan  

The visit to Astana on the occasion of the initiatives “Living Legacy. Italy in its Greats” 

Astana (Kazakhstan), 17 November 2023 – The Executive Director of Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei (FEEM) Alessandro Lanza was awarded the title of Honorary Professor by Eurasian National University of Kazakhstan in the occasion of his participation in the initiative “Living Legacy. Italy in its Greats” in Astana. The event is organized by the Embassy of Italy in the Republic of Kazakhstan, Eni and Eurasian National University in the framework of the Italian Culture Room aimed at advancing education, knowledge transfer and promoting Italian culture.  

The initiative “Living Legacy. Italy in its Greats” aims to familiarize Kazakhstani audience with Italian influential personalities. This year event is dedicated to Enrico Mattei – leader of international energy sector, founder of Eni, also well known by his diplomacy and farsightedness. In the framework of the initiative Director Lanza gave an Open Lecture for students and guests in the Eurasian National University named after L.N. Gumilyov. The Embassy of Italy also organized a special Talk Lunch inviting Kazakh and foreign diplomats to discuss Energy Transition matters and the importance of persons like Enrico Mattei in international business development and intercultural relations. 

The Ambassador of Italy to Kazakhstan Marco Alberti highlighted the value of Enrico Mattei personality: “In the 70th anniversary of Eni, we wanted to pay tribute to Enrico Mattei, its first chairman. A man with strategic vision and infinite passion for challenges, who contributed to make Italy one of the most industrialized countries in the world. A leader who believed that dialogue and respect for different cultures are the basis for long-term, sustainable partnerships. A great manager who conceived energy, and energy diplomacy, as drivers for growth and development”. 

The Executive Director of FEEM Alessandro Lanza said: “I am honored to receive this recognition from a prestigious academic institution that has shown an undeterred ability to promote dialogue between Kazakhstan and the rest of the world. I am especially proud to be able to celebrate this achievement by sharing the vision of Enrico Mattei, whose business approach and civil commitment were marked by a unique strategic vision, a constant desire for innovation, and a talent to imagine the future“.
