On May 11 2012, the Committee on World Food Security (CFS) signed a document to promote secure tenure rights and equitable access to land, fisheries and forests as a means of eradicating hunger and poverty, supporting sustainable development and enhancing the environment. In this article Giulio Sapelli, professor of Economic History at the University of Milan and Associate Researcher at FEEM, comments on the importance of this agreement that calls for economic players to consult and negotiate with local communities.
