FEEM Seminar on “Production of Biofuels and Food Prices: Searching for the Empirical Link”
In recent years the ethanol industry has experienced a dramatic growth that has raised concerns about possible demand-driven price increases in corn and other crop markets.
On September 20, 2012, Andrea Bastianin will present a recent work aimed at shading light on this issue by analysing price relations between ethanol, field crops (i.e. corn, soybeans and wheat) and cattle in the state of Nebraska, the second largest ethanol producer in the United States.
