Call for participation:“Responsibility, Beauty and Culture represent the most powerful reaction to the Mediterranean crisis” – Summer School in Euro Mediterranean Strategies, VI Edition
The VI edition of the “Summer School in Euro Mediterranean Strategies” will take place from 23rd to 26th of September 2015 in Maratea (PZ) on the topic of Sustainable Thinking/ Sustainable Tourism.
Mediterranean is living an extraordinary situation, it is infact affected by a resurgence of international terrorism (which often strikes touristic places and tourists as well), by the deep economic crisis in Greece and in the other Mediterranean-European Countries as well, by unfinished democratisation processes as in Libya or Egypt. Right in this chaotic situation it needs to be demonstrated how Responsibility, Beauty and Culture could represent a reaction to this diffused crisis.
Following on this path, this edition of the Summer School is organized by IASEM – Institute of High Euro Mediterranean Studies and FEEM – Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei , to promote an operative round table on the perspectives of a shared international strategy to encourage a sustainable thinking and a sustainable tourism in the Mediterranean area.
The Summer School programme includes lectures, workshops and debates with the specific target of providing the best theoretical tools to approach the complexity of the issue proposed, analysing all economic, political and cultural interconnections.
Within MCH – Mediterranean Common House network, focused on a Mediterranean integration process starting from the bottom, the course aims to deepen the role of tourism as a cultural vehicle and exchange of experiences, strengthening a culture of integration and mutual knowledge.
The Course is articulated in lectures and opportunities for discussion, in which different subjects will be analyzed. Specifically the structure of the training will develop around:
1 – Mediterranean knowledge
- geo-political framework
- economic framework
2 – Sustainable tourism
- approaches and trends
- integration with traditional economies
- practical cases
3 – Tourism and lifestyles
- Discussions on new economic and cultural models
The Summer School provides for 4 hours morning lectures and 2-3 hours of workshops/debates in the afternoon.
Lessons will be held by international teachers and experts.
Registration will be open from 23rd of July 2015.
