The Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei, together with the Italian chapter of the Association of Competition Economics, is organizing this year’s annual workshop on Antitrust and Regulation.

The meeting will be centred on the major issues related to competition and regulation policies, and is aimed at encouraging the debate among policy makers and economists working on these issues within institutions, firms, research centres, the academia and the professions.

This year’s topics are related to competition policies during the crisis. The debate will focus on how the present situation has affected the regular application of antitrust policies in Italy and abroad. Another topic on the agenda will be the role played by public intervention in the banking sector, where property rights have often passed from one hand to the next. One of the sessions will be devoted to consumer protection, an area that the Italian Antitrust Authority has recently placed at the centre of its activities. Public bids in relation to competition laws and policies will be another topic discussed at the workshop.
