For over thirty years Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei (FEEM) has been developing and implementing a wide range of research projects addressing current, emerging and frontier issues in the broad global economic, energetic and social context. FEEM collaborates with various networks in the academic world, supporting researchers with different expertise, and fostering the cross-fertilisation of ideas and the cultivation of highly skilled human capital.

In this context, FEEM is systematically committed to combating discrimination, inequality and disparities in the workplace through clear and transparent priorities and objectives that contribute to creating a fair and respectful environment for everyone who works for or comes into contact with the Foundation, regardless of gender or sex.

FEEM has developed a Gender Equality Plan (GEP) after conducting a comprehensive analysis. The GEP outlines the activities and objectives that FEEM will pursue to establish a corporate culture that promotes and disseminates the values that have always underpinned its research activities.

To this end, in December 2022 FEEM launched the FEEMALE Project to further invest in equality and inclusion as core values to improve the working lives of its most important resources: people.

A internal Steering Committee was established with free membership for all personnel, with the aim of: 1) monitoring the implementation of the GEP objectives; 2) organizing activities that promote a corporate culture of gender equality and inclusion; 3) establishing a specific section into FEEM’s Library to gather texts on gender equality, female entrepreneurship and inclusion; 4) defining an Action Paln outlining areas of intervention and activities to be implemented between 2023-2025. The areas are the following:

  • Area 1 – Work-life balance and organizational culture.
  • Area 2Guidelines for Gender-Equality Rectuitment and Selection Procedures.
  • Area 3Gender balance in research activities.
  • Area 4Measures to combat gender-based violence, including sexual harassment.

The Committee members brought their skills to the table, successfully created a Newsletter and organized a series of events that focused on gender equality, inclusion, and work-life balance. These events are designed to share successful cases and reflect on opportunities for improvement in the relevant contexts.
