PRIME stands for Policies for Research and Innovation in the Move towards the European Research Area. The project aims to integrate European research excellence on the research topic of European research and innovation policies.
PRIME stands for Policies for Research and Innovation in the Move towards the European Research Area. The project aims to integrate European research excellence on the research topic of European research and innovation policies. PRIME is an international and interdisciplinary project that assembles over 200 researchers coming from over 4 disciplines and 16 countries. The network has developed a ‘progress model’ to foster excellence and the gradual integration of teams, especially from accession countries. PRIME ‘s research activity lines aim at producing world-class research, while its structural activity lines aim at making integration durable in the sector of database and indicators issues, training, and interaction with stakeholders.
PRIME’s analysis suggests that, although European countries per se hold outstanding capabilities, R&D&I policies remain fragmented in terms of organisation and production of knowledge. For example, they are constrained by the limited extent to which truly comparable databases exist on policy-relevant issues. It is therefore crucial to foster the emergence of a durable structure that integrates the isolated efforts of leading researchers. In this framework, FEEM contributed to establish a European University Observatory by providing data on the University of Venice “Ca’ Foscari”, administering questionnaires and conducting interviews. The EUO project led to elaborate a tool and to initiate a process of common discussion with University representatives, in order to launch a data gathering process and to develop robust indicators. As a final step the EOU project produced a Methodological Guide for the strategic management of University research activities. The guide is targeted to university administrators and is designed as a tool to assess the performances of the institution.
