The Project is carried out by a consortium between the Centre for Sustainability Management of Leuphana Universitaet, the Centre for Environmental Economics and Management (CEEM) of Ca’ Foscari University and the Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei. The aim of the research is three-folded: i) The test on the comprehensiveness of corporate sustainability reporting; ii) the effectiveness of an internet-based approach; iii) The emerging trends and mainstreaming CSR approach in the financial sector as they are presented and declared in sustainability reporting. The joint collaboration between the different institutions will produce a comprehensive (technical and content) criteria catalogue for the assessment of internet and printed-based sustainability reporting. Bringing together these perspectives, the enlarged team will be able to assess and compare main sustainability reporting outputs of German and Italian companies accompanied by sector-based recommendations.

The main result of the research will consist in the production of an evaluation tool, the criteria and content catalogue (check list) specifically related to the banking sector. Moreover, a sector study, i.e. the banking sector evidences will be prepared in form of report. Papers are foreseen to be submitted to international conferences. A dissemination strategy for the project and for the future has been established: Two knowledge transfer workshops (in Germany and in Italy) will be held in the second half of 2009. The workshops are organised as a one-day exchange-of-experience where an interaction between researchers and some practitioners/companies’ representatives will be fostered. The workshop are also intended as an occasion to promote the young researchers work and reinforce the network between the institutions involved.
