Ing.

For the second year, Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei hosted the scientific secretariat of the “Enrico Furegato Prize”, opened to graduate students from degree courses of public or private Italian universities.

The prize awards 4,000 euros assigned to students that graduated in 2013, and that wrote a thesis on the topic of access to energy as key factor for improving the quality of life while fostering sustainable development.

The 2014 “Enrico Furegato Prize” winner is Federico De Bosio, Department of Energy Engineering of the Politecnico di Torino, who concurred with a thesis on “Thermoeconomic analysis of a Compressed Air Energy Storage (CAES) system integrated with a wind power plant in the framework of the IPEX market”.

The thesis aims to verify the convenience of installing a Hybrid Power Plant capable of storing electrical energy by means of air compression considering the regulations currently in force in Italy. An article extracted from the thesis has been selected by the international scientific journal “Applied Energy”.
