On October 12, 2011, the EU-funded EXIOPOL project – A New Environmental Accounting Framework Using Externality Data and Input-Output Tools for Policy Analysis – will hold its final conference in Brussels to illustrate and disseminate the main results of four years of research activities: a detailed  environmentally extended input-output database, covering 43 individual countries plus the aggregation of the rest of the world, to perform full cost accounting and impact assessment of different activities; a set of policy briefs focusing on policy relevant case studies; and the comparison of different methodological approaches to environmental accounting. The EXIOPOL conference will be closed by a high-level round table, involving scientists and policy makers, to discuss the project contribution and the role of tools and indicators to support the EU Sustainable Development Strategy.
