The researchers from the Group for Research in Decision Analysis of HEC Montréal model the role of the world’s forests as a major carbon sink and emitter. They consider two types of agents (forest owners and non-forest owners) and retrieve the cooperative solution for this game, showing in which cases cooperation makes it profitable to abate emissions, to reduce net deforestation, and to do both.
