The  photographic exhibition ”FRANCO FONTANA ARCHITECTURAL ABSTRACTIONS. Photographs of Expo Milano 2015" will be inaugurated with a press conference at FEEM’s headquarters in Milan on Monday, November 9, 2015 at 12.00 noon (opening hour for press accreditation).

The exhibition will be open to the public from November 10 until December 5, 2015 (Monday to Saturday,  8.00 a.m. – 7.00 p.m.) at FEEM’s headquarters in Milan.

Franco Fontana, Italian photographer of worldwide renown, is acclaimed by critics and loved by photography fans. He has won some of the most prestigious world photography awards, and his works are exhibited in over fifty museums all over the world. Fontana has been invited to international photography workshops and conferences, and he collaborates with several photography magazines and dailies. Franco Fontana has devoted 42 photographs to represent the architectural structures of the Expo Milano 2015 pavilions. The photographs were taken last June at the Expo Milano 2015 site. The idea of using images to represent the universal exposition originated from Canon Italia, the Imaging Sponsor of EXPO Milano 2015. Three major Italian photographers – Franco Fontana, Paolo Castiglioni and Francesco Cito –  were invited to contribute to the project “EXPO, Vista d’autore”, focused on three topics: Architecture, Food, People. Each photographer was free to choose the best shots to compile a photo book. The project of Franco Fontana, a master in the use of color, is in the style of his famous urban landscapes. All the photographs represent the architectural exteriors of the Expo pavilions.

The photographer was asked to give an original interpretation of the architecture of Expo Milano 2015 as a cultural legacy for the city of Milan and for the visitors and observers from all over the world. FEEM has taken up the challenge and relaunched it. Franco Fontana describes his work like this: “I approached Expo Milano 2015 with the eyes full of wonder of a child, living the miracle of growth into adolescence, making visible what is invisible, expressing what we already know, because the invisible is the soul. What I have seen is part of a knowledge I already had. I have interpreted and expressed this knowledge. I have given meaning to shapes, and represented the life of the shapes themselves. I photograph what I think, and my thoughts identify me. The camera is only a fetish”. The photographs exhibited at FEEM’s headquarters in Milan have been produced with Canon iPF9400 large format printing technology.  A photo book with a selection of the artist’s works has been produced in a limited number of copies (184), with the innovative and exclusive Canon DreamLabo 5000 high-density print head technology with zero impact on the environment.

Filippo Del Corno, Councillor for Culture of the City of Milan, Sabina Ratti, FEEM Executive Director, Alberto Meomartini, Curator of Expowall, Massimiliano Ceravolo, Information and Imaging Solutions Director of Canon Italia and Denis Curti, Editor of “Il Fotografo” will participate in the press conference together with Franco Fontana.
