The Green Bonds market tripled in size in 2014. The only aspect outpacing this growth has been the increase in reports, publicity and research around the market and how it may help scale up climate finance.
CPI has been conducting internal analysis over the past year on emerging trends in the Green Bonds market and how it might contribute to scaling up the finance flows globally for a low carbon transition. Behind this research has been the burning question: Are Green Bonds contributing to additional new climate finance flows or are they a marketing tool for well-meaning investors?
This seminar presents a comparative analysis of the market with other climate finance market mechanisms and seeks to discuss the implications of the findings.
