On 23 January 2009, Ecologic Institute supported by Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei (FEEM), the Institute for European Environmental Policy (IEEP), and Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI), held a conference at which the results of the EPIGOV project were presented and discussed. The conference was hosted by the Sustainable Development Observatory (SDO) of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC).

Which modes of governance are used to support environmental policy integration (EPI)? Is it possible to identify characteristic governance patterns supporting EPI and, if so, how do these patterns differ between levels of governance? How do EPI governance patterns interact across various levels of governance? These are some of the main questions which were explored within the EPIGOV framework. EPIGOV s described the relevant state-of-the-art, identified research gaps, and developed policy recommendations to improve the governance of EPI.
