Profile

Shobha Poudel completed her PhD in Global Environmental Studies from Kyoto University, Japan. She owned Masters and Bachelor’s Degree in Management from Tribhuvan University Nepal. She has several years of interdisciplinary research experience in Climate change adaptation, Vulnerability and risk assessment, Agriculture economics, Disaster risk management, Environmental Economics and Public Policy. She has won several international prestigious researches awards. Recently, she has been awarded a Marie Sklodowska Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships at Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei where she joined the Research Programme “Modelling Energy Transition” (MET Program). In 2021, she won the collaborative research grant from the Asia Pacific Network (APN) for Global Change Research to contribute to climate smart agriculture research efforts work in South Asia. She is also a recipient of Early Career Women Scientists Fellowship 2018 from Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD), TWAS, UNESCO. She won Japanese Government Monbukagakusho (MEXT) Scholarship and Kyoto University GSS research grant for her doctoral study in Japan. She is also a Contributing Author, Chapter 10 (Working Group II) of IPCC AR6. She has also worked as Thematic Lead for Climate Resilience at USAID Biodiversity Nepal. Before that she worked as a Researcher in Policy Research Institute (a Think Tank Nepal Government) and Science Hub, Nepal. She has published several research papers including policy briefs and book chapters as well as she voluntarily reviews scientific articles in number of reputed journals.
