Profile

Paolo Castelnovo is Assistant Professor (RTDB, SECS-P06) at the Department of Economics of the University of Insubria (Varese). He was previously Assistant Professor (RTDA, SECS-P03) at the Department of Economics, Management and Quantitative Methods (D.E.M.M.), University of Milan, where he had been post-doc fellow from 2014 to 2020. He has been Adjunct Professor of Public Finance at Bocconi University (2015-2023), Adjunct Professor of European Regulatory Economics at the University of Milan (2019-2021), Adjunct Professor of Economics and Industrial Dynamics at the University of Milano-Bicocca (2020-2021) and Junior Researcher at Econpubblica, Bocconi University (2009-2010). He has a B.Sc. and a M.Sc. in Economics and Social Sciences from Bocconi University (2009) and a Ph.D. in Economics and Finance of Public Administration from the University of Milano-Bicocca and Catholic University of Milan (2014). His primary research interests are within the fields of economics of innovation, public finance, political and regional economics. He published in international journals like Research Policy, Technovation, Regional Studies, European Journal of Political Economy, Journal of Technology Transfer and Structural Change and Economic Dynamics. In FEEM he is involved in the “RAw Materials for the Energy Transition (RAMET)” Research Program.
