Profile

Italo Colantone is Associate Professor of Economic Policy at Bocconi University, Research Fellow at the Baffi-Carefin Research Center and CESifo, and Senior Researcher at Eni Enrico Mattei Foundation within the research program “Labor in the Low-Carbon Transition”. He obtained bachelor and master degrees in Economics from Bocconi University, and holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the Catholic University of Leuven (KUL). Before joining Bocconi University, he worked as Assistant Professor at the Erasmus University Rotterdam. He has been a Visiting Professor at LMU Munich, Harvard University, CEMFI and Carlos III in Madrid. His research focuses on international trade, political economics, and applied industrial organization. His works have been published in leading international journals such as the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the USA (PNAS), the American Political Science Review, the American Journal of Political Science, the Journal of International Economics, the Journal of Economic Geography, the Journal of Economic Perspectives and the Journal of International Business Studies. He participated in various research projects within the European Research Framework Programs and financed by JP Morgan Foundation, Cariplo Foundation, while working as a consultant for the OECD and private companies. He is currenlty Director of the Bachelor in International Politics and Government (BIG) of Bocconi University.
