Benno Albrecht is Tenured Full Professor of architectural and urban design. He is Director of the PhD School at University of Architecture of Venice Iuav, the only school of advanced studies of a special university in Italy fully dedicated to design subjects. He is principal investigator on urban issues for the Building for Peace research developed by the World Bank and he has been a consultant for UN organizations. His main areas of activity and research are sustainability and urban heritage. He has received Architecture Prizes, won international competitions. Since the beginning of his career Albrecht combined professional experiences in the field of architecture and urban development, with a highly innovative approach to research in the field of sustainability and the historic city. Following the war in Syria, Albrecht led a multidisciplinary research on urban and social reconstruction.
