International workshop on "Energy poverty and access to energy in developing countries"

2012 is the International Year of Sustainable Energy declared by the UN Secretary-General: besides the challenges to be faced by richer countries, 2.7 billion people are still relying on traditional biomass, with half also lacking access to energy electricity. On the way to “Rio + 20”, on March 12-13, 2012 FEEM will organize a workshop to discuss and analyze households' access to energy, available technologies, and the financial and institutional frameworks needed to tackle energy poverty, all having key implications on the main themes of the upcoming UN Conference on Sustainable Development.
