Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei (FEEM) is looking for qualified and motivated researchers with a strong background in one of the following areas: time series econometrics, econometrics, commodity markets, macroeconometrics. The successful candidate will join FEEM’s RAw Materials for the Energy Transition (RAMET), a research group dedicated to analyzing the linkages between energy transition policy objectives, energy transition minerals (ETM) markets and their macroeconomic implications in the short, medium and long term. Within this team, the candidate will primarily focus on the project “Macroeconomic Impacts of Energy Transition and ETM Markets”, which examines the determinants of prices, demand and supply of energy transition metals and analyses the macroeconomic impacts and propagation mechanisms of fluctuations in the prices of energy transition metals.

Selection and development of RAw Materials for the Energy Transition (RAMET) program
The selected candidate will be based in Milan (Italy) and will primarily focus on the Macroeconomic Effects of Energy Transition and ETM Markets project. This will involve developing econometric tools for modelling commodity markets and their linkages with the macro-economy, as well as publishing in top-tier peer-reviewed academic journals.
The candidate will also be expected to contribute to internal activities such as seminars, and to participate in international conferences, workshops and stakeholder events. As part of his/her duties, the candidate will finalize research efforts in the form of academic articles, book chapters or policy reports.
Requirements
The RAMET project focuses on econometric tools for commodity price analysis. To qualify for the position, the candidate must have strong quantitative skills, demonstrated by at least an MSc degree in a relevant field such as econometrics, statistics, economics or related disciplines. A PhD is not required but highly valued.
A strong methodological background and motivation are essential, while skills and experience in time series analysis and macroeconomic tools are highly valued.
The ideal candidate will also have:
- Experience in the analysis of time series models and forecasting techniques;
- A solid foundation in statistical analysis and data management, with proficiency in software such as Matlab, R or Python.
- The ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team in an international environment, with English as the primary working language.
- A strong commitment to the development of research projects and the ability to translate research into actionable indicators and criteria for practical applications.
- Basic and/or working knowledge of Italian is an advantage.
