Financing institution: Regione Lombardia

Beneficiary: Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei (FEEM)

The project by the Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei aims to catalog, digitize, and make accessible online a vast collection of documents.

This includes around 2,000 catalog entries of the Professor Giulio Sapelli’s collection, donated to the Foundation, enriched with notes and dedications. By creating digital archives and integrating digitized documents into the OPAC, the project seeks to improve access to this historical-cultural material, ensuring usability for both on-site and remote users, particularly for scholars of economic history.

Expected Results

  • Upon completion, the project is expected to produce 2,000 new catalog entries, over 10,000 digital scans, and PDF/A documents with OCR. Users will be able to consult the material online and on-site, enhancing access to historical documentation also through interactive digital archives and multimedia content (such as videos and podcasts). These actions aim to expand the use of the digital library, increasing the academic and specialized user base.

Policy/Social Impact

  • The project offers significant cultural and social impact by contributing to the preservation and dissemination of historical and scientific documents relevant to Italy’s economy and society. Through digitization and promotion on social and institutional channels, it enables a broader audience, beyond academia, to access unique resources. The enhancement of this documentary heritage also fosters greater awareness of economic and environmental issues, aligning with the Foundation’s commitment to interdisciplinary research and education.
