Digitalizzazione patrimonio documentale
Financing Institution: Ministero della cultura (MIC)
Beneficiary: Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei (FEEM)
The project aims to digitize and catalog all editions of the “Working Papers” published by the Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei from 1993 to 2018, totalling 2,753 volumes and over 80,000 scans. For this purpose, the Foundation has purchased a planetary scanner, selected for its high-quality performance at optimized costs. The digitization process will adhere to international standards, producing high-resolution master files and PDF/A files with OCR to enable comprehensive text searches. Additionally, metadata generation will provide structural, descriptive, administrative, and management metadata, facilitating online access to the documents.
Expected ResultsÂ
- At the end of the project, all digitized resources will be accessible and browsable directly on the Foundation’s website. Before digitization, internal staff will update the National Catalog (SBN) with participatory cataloguing, as currently less than half of the Foundation’s publications are listed. This will expand the Foundation’s presence in the OPAC, increasing accessibility and visibility for a diverse range of users, allowing consultations based on both temporal and thematic criteria.
Policy/Social Impact
- The project will help preserve and enhance a vast documentary heritage, making essential documents accessible to researchers, professionals, and the general public for both historical and current studies. The complete digitization and cataloguing of the “Working Papers” will provide inclusive and widespread access to the Foundation’s materials, promoting the sharing of economic and environmental knowledge. Through this project, the Foundation strengthens its commitment to research resource dissemination, expanding the cultural and social impact of its work.
