Breaking the lag: indagine sugli impatti delle tecnologie per lo sviluppo sostenibile sulle traiettorie economiche delle Regioni nel Sud della Lombardia (Cremona, Crema, Lodi, Pavia e Ovest Bresciano)
Coordinator: Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei (FEEM)
Funding institution: Fondazione LGH
The project aims to analyse the economic and growth disparities in the regions of southern Lombardy, classified as “low-growth” compared to the European core.
Despite relatively high–income levels, these regions exhibit heterogeneous structural characteristics that could influence their growth trajectories, including size, economic sectors, climatic conditions, and dependence on agriculture.
The project seeks to explore how the adoption of sustainable technologies can promote economic and environmental development in these regions.
Key factors contributing to regional disparities will be identified using local Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), spatial data (GIS), and advanced interpolation and down-scaling techniques. Subsequently, an assessment of sustainable development technologies will be conducted to create a classification based on technical characteristics and growth impacts, identifying potential synergies and applications for the regions in question.Â
Expected ResultsÂ
- Identification and selection of the most relevant economic growth indicators for industrial sectors in the regions of southern Lombardy, and evaluation and classification of the most promising sustainable development technologies, based on technical characteristics and growth impacts.Â
Social Impact
- The project has the potential to significantly influence regional and social policies in southern Lombardy. By identifying the most promising sustainable development technologies, the project can provide practical guidance on how the regions can diversify their economic activities, improve resource efficiency, and increase economic and environmental resilience.Â
