FEEM Basilicata

FEEM’s office in the Basilicata region opened in early 2007 in Viggiano, a town located in the heart of Val d’Agri, as part of an institutional agreement signed, in 1998, by Eni for the exploitation of the oil and gas fields in the area.
FEEM’s applied research activities in the area aim at contributing to the social and economic development of Basilicata, with a focus on the compatibility and the synergies between oil and gas production and local economic development particularly in the areas of tourism and food productions, key sectors for the Region’s economical growth. All the activities are funded by Eni and carried out in accordance with the Region.
The activities in the Basilicata region are carried out by a staff of around 30 researchers and collaborators, mostly living in the local communities.
There is a constant dialogue between FEEM and the key local actors to achieve the common goal of a sustainable local development. The outreach activities are carried out at local level through partnerships, support to policy, dissemination, engagement, and training and education initiatives.
