Abstract

While South American economies have been growing since the start of the 21st century, globalization has led to an increase in informal employment and a rise in urbanization due to internal migration towards the larger cities. Today, Europe and South America are both experimenting different forms of welfare underpinned by their distinctive historical and cultural backgrounds. This new issue of Equilibri aims at sparking a debate between Europe and South America on this topical issue.
