Equilibri 2005.03 - Demografia

A smaller number of children are born in the world. The birth rate has halved – compared to the 1970s – but the population continues to rise, especially in the poorest areas of the world. We had been planning to devote an issue of «Equilibri» to demography for a long time, and we have finally succeeded thanks to the support and suggestions of Prof. Massimo Livi Bacci. The different contributions included in the issue refer to the Mediterranean area, to which our country belongs.
