In this interview Daniel G. Nocera talks about the artificial leaf, his latest discovery in the field of artificial photosynthesis by the solar splitting of water into hydrogen and oxygen under benign conditions. Like living leaves, the device can turn the energy of sunlight directly into a chemical fuel that can be stored and used later as an energy source, representing a great opportunity for providing solar energy  and clean water to the poor and those of the non-legacy world.
