Communication and Outreach Expert


Valentina Gasbarri serves as Communication and Outreach Expert of the Food Impacts Initiative.

She is an experienced communications professional and an inspirational strategic leader with a very strong international background and a deep passion for every concrete aspect of sustainability in our daily life. For almost a decade, as a communication and external relations manager in top international media outlets, NGOs and International organizations, first, and communications executive in the private sector, more recently, she has coordinated multi-disciplinary teams in multi-cultural environments to distil complex economic, political and food and sustainability topics into powerful communication messages. Her professional experiences include assignments at Seeds & Chips, Barilla Foundation Center for Food and Nutrition (BCFN), World Farmers Organization, Inter-press Service (IPS), European Commission, UNESCO in Beijing and Italian Representation to Nations United in New York. Recently, for the BCFN Foundation, she designed and coordinated the strategies and communication initiatives at international level of agri-food sustainability projects, such as the Food Sustainability Index, in collaboration with The Economist Intelligence Unit, a global study on nutrition, sustainable agriculture and food waste, which collects data from 67 countries around the world to highlight best practices and identify actions in relation to the paradoxes of food and the main objectives of the Sustainable Development Agenda, and the Food Sustainability Media Award, a journalistic award aimed at rewarding the excellence of journalism on food sustainability, in collaboration with the Thomson Reuters Foundation. She holds a M.Sc. in International Relations (University of Milan), a Post-graduate Master in Diplomatic Studies (SIOI in Rome).

Valentina lives in Rome. She loves photography and reportage, traveling, practicing yoga, listening to music and reading adventure books.
