Silvia Beghelli graduated (magna cum laude) in Mathematics at the Bologna University in 2011. Subsequently, she moved to London and embarked on a PhD at King’s College London focusing on microeconomic topics, such as environmental and health economics. She concluded the PhD in 2018 with a thesis on econometrics strategies to estimate the causal relationship between environmental exposure and health at the micro level. During her PhD she collaborated with NIESR (National Institute of Economic and Social Research) and contributed to a project on hospital performance across European countries. From July 2018 she started as researcher in FEEM within the Firms And Cities Towards Sustainability (FACTS) team. In particular, she is interested in estimating the impact of governance on urban expansion at different geographical levels: regional, global and with a special focus on African cities.
