Prof. Carlo Carraro, FEEM Scientific Director, has been appointed as Fellow of the Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (AERE).

Instituted in 2005, the AERE Fellows Program recognizes outstanding contributions to the field by members of the association. The Awardees have demonstrated a significant contribution to the advancement of the profession of environmental and resource economics. Prof. Carraro is the first European economist to have been selected for this significant recognition.

The Awards were announced on June 11, 2016 at the AERE Summer Conference (Beaver Run Resort and Conference Center, Breckenridge, Colorado).

On behalf of AERE, Carlo Carraro has served as a member of the Board of Directors, and as Chair of the Selection Committee for the World Congress of Environmental and Resource Economists (WCERE) in 2006, 2010, and 2014. He served as Co-Editor of AERE’s Review of Environmental Economics and Policy (REEP) and now serves as its editor-in-chief, working to keep REEP among the top 5 journals in environmental studies and the top 20 journals in economics.

"For the excellence of the scientific contribution of all its members, I am very honored and grateful to belong to the AERE fellows. This distinction is made even more meaningful knowing that I am the second European economist (the first one outside the inaugural fellows) to have been selected for this significant recognition. In slightly more than one year, I will be the new EAERE President. I will certainly do my best to strengthen cooperation between AERE and EAERE and to enhance the impact (in particular within the IPCC and international policy process) of the two Associations worldwide. My sincerest thanks finally go to the AERE board members and I wish to congratulate the other 2015 AERE fellows on their accomplishment".
