“The World in 2050: Looking Ahead for Sustainable Development” is the theme of the Fifth Annual International Conference on
Sustainable Development (ICSD), that will be held on September 18-20, 2017 at the Columbia University in New York City. The Conference will be hosted by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), Columbia University’s Center for Sustainable Development and the Global Association of Master’s in Development Practice (MDP) Programs. 

“This year’s International Conference on Sustainable Development will be the most important and historic yet,” said SDSN Director and Columbia University Professor Jeffrey Sachs. “Not only will the science and policy be at the cutting edge, but ICSD will host students from around the world, top scientists, and world leaders from politics to government to the UN. I urge everybody interested in sustainable development – the great challenge of our age – to come to ICSD.”

The ICSD
brings together governments, academia, international agencies and NGOs to share practical
solutions that can support the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda.

FEEM, among over 1,000 participants from over 60 countries will
attend the Conference. In
particular, FEEM researchers Lorenza Campagnolo, Marinella Davide and Elisa Delpiazzo will intervene to the “Water, Energy, and Agriculture inthe Context of Climate Change and the SDGs” parallel session with a research presentation on “SDGs under the
climate change threat: an impact assessment in the agricultural sector”. 

The presentation explores how failing SDG13 (climate change) could affect
the agricultural sector, as the latest FAO-IFAD report states. Hunger and
malnutrition is increasing nowadays and in the future stressors, such as
conflicts and climate change, may become even more evident. Outcomes considers
both economic indicators, such as GDP and production, and social indicators
such as poverty, malnutrition and inequality.
