“Chaos in, chaos out: the effect of deterministic chaos in GCM scenarios on estimates of climate change impacts”

Emanuele Massetti, senior researcher at FEEM and Centro Euro-Mediterraneo sui Cambiamenti Climatici (CMCC), presents a work using the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project phase 3 (CMIP3) multi-model dataset.

He shows that small variations in Greenhouse Gas Emissions and other forcing agents across the SRES scenarios generate substantially different climate scenarios in the US, and therefore suggests that the CMIP3 dataset should be used with caution, while proposing possible solutions.
