Abstract

Is Milan an inclusive city? Do we have equity in the city of Padova? Is it possible to ride a bike using the bike paths in Catania? Are there childcare facilities in Pesaro? If in Venice the path towards environmental sustainability is interesting, could the city of Tangier think of replicating the initiative or proposing an exchange of experiences? In short, how can local administrators and citizens benefit from the amount of information available and understand where their cities are on the path towards achieving the International Sustainability Goals?

On 23rd October 2020 the SDG Portal for Italy will be officially launched, the first Italian portal able to provide the state of the art on urban sustainable development, increasing citizens' awareness and facilitating national and international dialogue to promote and accelerate progress towards full sustainability.

AICCRE, thanks to the Platforma project, has developed a portal to present the SDGs indicators developed in each of the Italian cities: a platform capable of evaluating the implementation of the UN Agenda 2030 for each city. The portal is still in phase of development and  currently includes two countries: Italy and Germany. By the end of the year will also be included the Kingdom of Morocco, the first non-EU country.

The final goal of the project is to represent the largest number of cities in the world and to build communities of local authorities committed to strengthen cooperation and exchange between cities.
