Coral reef ecosystem is adversely affected by anthropogenic and natural stressors, though the former linked to human activities requires proactive action in protecting these delicate biomes. Consequently, understanding the effect of climate change by global increase in temperatures requires a mapping exercise at global levels considering the socio-economic and environmental factors. This paper estimates vulnerable index on communities based on the three sub-components: adaptive capacity, sensitivity and exposure associated with coral reef and climate change. The results show there is a trend that vulnerability is decreasing with time especially with the bleaching severity and developed countries are more resilient than their counterpart. Also, future directions in acquiring data is suggested for better coordination and established standards in data collection as related to biodiversity and ecosystems.
