Breaking Down Silos: Fostering Collaborative Action on the SDGs is the theme of the Sixth Annual International Conference on Sustainable Development (ICSD), that will be held on September 26-28, 2018 at the Columbia University in New York City. The aim of the conference is to bring together persons involved in research, policy, practice and business. Participants will share practical solutions for achieving the SDGs at local and national levels.

FEEM, among over 1,000 participants from over 65 countries, will attend the Conference. In particular, FEEM researchers Laura Cavalli and Luca Farnia will intervene with a research presentation on “Measuring the Agenda 2030 in the Italian cities: a methodological approach”. The presentation is focused on the methodological aspects and their relevance to ensure a correct measurement of the SDGs at the urban level, to monitor effectively the Agenda 2030.

Moreover, during the conference, Davide Vaccari –winner of the international special price for the “Youth in Action for SDGs 2018” call for ideas, will present his innovative solutions “Smart Farming: Big Data in Modern Agricolture”. The project idea is a software able to process a large quantity of Data and be adaptable through machine learning algorithms. The aim is to give, through an easy user interface, a triple support to the farmer: descriptive, predictive and prescriptive. Knowing the distinctive traits of an asset allows the maximization of the output as long as the minimization of waste.
