Presentation of the Book "Comuni S.p.A. Il Capitalismo Municipale in Italia"
Municipalities and provinces are the shareholders of hundreds of corporations employing 240,000 people with a turnover of 43 billion euros: a small empire. The volume reports the situation of over 700 Italian firms with local public ownership, trying to document and explain the existence and the performance of these firms. The presentation of the book will be held in Milan on March 8, 2010 offering an opportunity for discussion on the challenges of municipal capitalism and on the complex relationship between the government and local firms in the light of competition policy. The Italian Minister for European Policy, Andrea Ronchi, will participate in the event and will close the debate.
