After discussing the challenges of global warming and the need for energy security faced by governments and industry, prof. Muller explored the array of new energy sources and new technology now available. He then analyzed the choices that are most likely to meet the world's needs and put these issues in perspective, discussing the challenges they pose to the negotiations about to take place in Copenhagen. Although SWFs completed only 11 publicly reported transactions in Q2, another 19 were announced or pending, suggesting an upswing in SWF activity during the second quarter, which would be realized at a later date. FEEM and the Durham Islamic Finance Programme (Durham University) organize a conference entitled "Moral Values and Financial Markets: Assessing the Resilience of Islamic Finance against Financial Crisis" to be held at FEEM on November 18-19.
