Educare alla responsabilità Agroalimentare nel Territorio: Inchieste, Natura, Giornalismo - EAT:ING
EAT:ING project aims at spreading knowledge among schools and young generations, on food sustainability issues, such as local and organic food, agro-biodiversity, agriculture and climate change influences, etc. Through specific educational tools and activities carried out by FEEM’s researchers within this project, students become responsible food consumers, aware of the environmental and social impacts related to the diverse food systems and networks. In order to better investigate the local food chains, students can use journalistic tools, created by the project partner “Centro di Studi per la Storia dell’Editoria e del Giornalismo” professionals and researchers, such as journalistic guidelines; through them, students are able to understand where their food comes from and which are the environmental and social impacts related to food processing, retail and consumption. EAT:ING project’s main outputs concern:
During the academic year 2008/09, more than 20 schools (about 1 thousand students), have been carrying out autonomously the activities through the web site training aids; in the same year direct teaching has been led by environmental educators and journalism tutors all over the Lombardia Region. Moreover, around 6 thousand young students have been involved in writing newspaper articles on sustainability issues thanks to the collaboration with the “Campionato di Giornalismo” initiative run by “Il Giorno” newspaper.
