On January 20-22, 2010 FEEM, CEPR and the University of Padua organized a conference on "The Economics of Culture, Institutions and Crime". Indeed, economists have recently started to explore the role of cultural traits and beliefs, cultural diversity, social norms as well as endogenous preferences for a wide range of socio-economic interactions, among which crime choices. Such elements seem to be crucial for the well functioning of institutions and legal systems.
