Energy Challenges

Energy is crucial to the quality of our lives. It is a key ingredient in all sectors of modern economies and for achieving almost all of the Sustainable Development Goals, from its role in the eradication of poverty through advancements in health, education, water supply and industrialization, to combating climate change.

FEEM research addresses this domain through an innovative and interdisciplinary approach which puts together the major factors driving the change in global energy dynamics. This methodology is applied to a wide range of issues: the role of gas in important areas such as the EU Energy Union and the post-COP21 EU decarbonisation path; the complementarity between gas and renewable energy; the Euro-Mediterranean energy relations between regional cooperation on hydrocarbons and on sustainable energy solutions; and the future of the European energy industry between decarbonisation and digitalisation.
